Q&A

Jason was nice enough to do a "Q&A" for the site.  If you have a question for him send it on in for our next go around.

 June 2007 Q & A:

What I do in life-  To make a long explanation short:  Eat, Sleep,
 Exercise, Play/Write/Sing, and repeat!
>
Grew up in- I was born in Tallahassee, FL.  We moved to Wakulla County
(just south of Tally) when I was 6 years old.  My family still lives
there!  It's a great place to grow-up.  There wasn't much to do there
when I was younger, but I always enjoyed being outside anyhow.  We
always found something to do, whether it be "hide-and-go-seek", "King
of the Mountain" on the old saw dust pile down the street in the
woods, or just riding our bikes and exploring the county.  Or  we
could always go down to Newport bridge and dive into the river too!
And after I started playing guitar when I was 13, I pretty much sat
around the house and practiced every chance I got.
>
What color are your eyes- My eyes have a ring of blue and a ring of
green in them.  So they're really two different colors.  When I wear
blue or black, they look REALLY blue.  When I wear more green stuff,
they look really green.
>
Do you like someone right now- Yes. Sorry, that's all I'm  saying.....for now!
>
Any tattoos or piercings- I have the tattoo on my left forearm.  It
took me 3 years to decide what I wanted.  I felt like if I was going
to do something permanent like that, it should really mean something
to me.  It's an Ancient Chinese letter that translates into one word:
"Rage."  I got it b/c to me it means "Never Give Up."  I saw a poem
at  the end of a Tim McGraw song when I was 14.  The song was "She Can't
Be Really Gone," and right at the end the screen goes black and says
"...Rage against the dying of the light..."  That's the hook from the
poem, "Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night", by Dylan Thomas.  I
later came across the poem again when I was in college and that's
when  it hit me that my tattoo should be something like that.
>
People in High School would describe me as - They'd probably say I
was  shy and quiet.  I'd say that's what I was.  It always surprises me
that I do what I do for a living!  That was such a hard thing for me
to get over when I was a teenager.  I wanted to be on stage and play
music though, so I did just that, I got over it.
>
Nicknames- Man, you I've acquired so many over the years!  Some of
them I'll keep to myself but here are a few:  My dad always called me
Hot Rod, my step-dad called me Snake, my mom called me Jake, my band
calls me Jones, and my agent calls me Double Jay.  How's that for  variety???
>
What is something people would be surprised to know about you- The  first thing I ever
played on a guitar was the lick to "The Unforgiven"  by Metallica.  Who'd have thunk it?
>
Tv show I never miss- I used to watch the show 'Nip Tuck' religiously,
and I love to watch 'Scrubs' re-runs.
>
Last movie I saw was- I really can't remember.  My memory stinks....
>
Bottle or Draft-  I'll take a bottle!
>
The one cd I'll never get rid of - Any of my Keith Urban c.d.'s! He's  the man!
>
Most requested song of yours - Recently, I'd have to say it's "You're my Favorite."
>
Someday I intend to try- Take over the world!!!  Just kidding...  I'd
really like to do something to make this world a better place.  I
know  it sounds cliche, but I've always been sentimental and aware of how
other people feel.  There are a lot of sick people, unhappy people,
homeless people, etc., in this world.  I've always been the kind of
person who wants to try to save everybody, and I will if I can!!!
>
Favorite restaurant meal- You can't beat a good steak, preferably a
rib-eye or New York strip.  Or some good pepperoni and cheese pizza!!!
>
On saturday nights I like to- If I'm not on the road or on a stage
somewhere, and I'm actually at home, I'm cool with kicking back on my
couch with my dog Chance for a movie or a good book.  Maybe head down
to Broadway in Nashville and catch up with some friends I haven't
seen  in a while.  They're usually on stage though...
>
Do you like your hair- I like it alright.  It drives me crazy when I
go home to Florida b/c it's so humid there that my hair goes "POOF!"
Gots to keep a ball cap handy down there.
>
Who let the dogs out- I believe that was the "Baha Men."
>
Can you cook- I can cook!  I don't know how to cook a variety of
things, but I'm always up for trying out new recipes.  I'm more of a
grill guy really.  I firmly believe you can cook nearly anything on a
grill!  The only problem is that I'm hardly ever home long enough to
even go grocery shopping....sigh....
>
Biggest pet peeve- People who drive slow in the fast lane, especially
while talking or TEXTING on their cell phone.  Aarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!
>
Last night I got to bed at- Hmmm, I'd say around 4 a.m.  That's the
usual when we're out on the road playing.  It's so hard to go to
sleep after being on stage all night and not getting home 'til 2 or later.
Too much adrenaline left in the veins!
>
Do you really drink way, way "Too Much Wine"- Well, I have on occasion
had too much wine, but I try not to let it happen often.  But when it
happens, let me tell ya, it happens!
>
Who's your favorite fan- Now that's something I don't think I'll ever
be able to narrow down to just one!  I love all my fans....  They not
only make what I do for a living possible, they make it fun and worth
  every second!
>
If you could open for any artist who would it be- I would love to
open  for Keith Urban or Brad Paisley, maybe a few others.  I admire those
guys because they write great songs, they're musicianship is amazing,
they put on an incredible show, and they sing really well, both in the studio
and on the stage.
>
What would you title your autobiography- Jason Jones:  The Man Behind
the Guitar.  I don't know, it sounded dramatic, right???
>
My best quality is- Well, they tell me it's my dimples, so I'm gonna
> go with that!
>
Worst vice- I'm doing pretty good actually.  It definitely used to be
biting my finger nails, but I quit back in December of '06.  Now,
it's probably just the fact that I like to procrastinate on everything.
That doesn't work well with how hectic my life tends to get on a
regular basis!
>
Dont even get me started on- People who drive slow in the fast lane
while talking on their cell phones!!!!
>
Who are the best people to hang with- I love hanging out with my
family!  I never get to see them anymore, maybe once or twice a year.
It's always a good time!  And something crazy always happens while
hanging out with my band, or a few other friends of mine; I never
pass  up those opportunities!  Also, some of the guys I write with are
great  to hang out with.  They're so in tune to the world, themselves, and
their surroundings.  I always find myself trying to figure out what's
going inside their heads.  It fascinates me....
>
Favorite movies- Aw man, there are so many I'll probably miss some
good ones.  I love "Legends of the Fall", just about any Will Ferrell
movie, "Dumb and Dumber" is a classic I was recently re-introduced
to,  Adam Sandler movies are great (such as Big Daddy, Billy Madison,
Happy Gilmore, Little Nicky, Anger Management, Wedding Singer etc...),
>
Besides a credit card what do you never leave home without- I always
try to have a guitar pick in my pocket, just in case!
>
Im not responsible for- ...anything that happened in 1979.  I'd just  been born!
>
I want to get stranded on a desert island with- I'll really have to  put some thought into
that one.  Check back later, lol.
>
What's the last song you have stuck in yoiur head- "Sweet  Caroline"....
you know you just sang it in your head while your read  it!
>
Do you sing in the shower- Just about every time!  That's how I keep
> my chops up, lol.
